Now based in Los Angeles , The journey for Mikael "Hurricane" Russell began at the young age of 14. He started out the summer of 2004 in his hometown of Charleston, West Virginia. He got his start spinning at teen club parties when The Beat 98.7's radio host Leeshia Lee asked Russell if he would be interested in DJing her weekly parties. In fact his first ever gig had a turn out of a couple hundred party goers; and he has brought a crowd to every performance and venue since. Hurricane has performed in many US cities such as Austin (SXSW 2017) ,NYC, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, and Charlotte among others. His biggest influences are DJ Jazzy Jeff and DJ A-Trak.
He has been given the opportunity to spin at events with celebrities such as Waka Flocka Flame, Trey Songz, Chanel West Coast, 21 Savage, DJ Paul , Rich The Kid, Young Jeezy, Bubba Sparxx, and DJ Skribble to name a few. Hurricane has a quickly rising base of followers and fans on his social networking pages: Twitter, Instagram, Mixcloud, and Facebook. In 2011 The DJ Hurricane relocated to Morgantown, WV home of Playboy Magazine's 2013 #1 Party School, WVU. In 2012 he became the official DJ for ARTIST: "West Virginia's Own" Ponce De'Leioun (Only unsigned artist to appear on world famous Tim Westwood Show 2X) He emcee's their live performances and serves host to their mixtapes. Since then Hurricane has created a monthly party in Los Angeles called "Issa Vibe' which has hundreds of party-goers. He currently has finished his first acting role in a independent movie ' Gifted ' (2019) , and has made an appearance on VH1' s Basketball Wives He also hosts his own mixtapes which introduce new popular songs along with up and coming artists (which you can check out on Spinrilla & My Mixtapez). can't be described; giving the crowd his heart and soul at every show with professionalism, high energy, excellent sound, and non stop partying. |
